Our October began with an empowering experience at Karren Brady’s Women in Business & Tech Expo at Excel London. For a second year in a row, we were energised to connect with remarkable women who are passionately committed to tech. While women hold just 27% of STEM roles, it’s events like these that ignite change, challenge the status quo and inspire progress.

A key part of this experience was our powerful panel, “Women on Top: Thriving in Male-Dominated Industries,” led by Lily Spokes, Zainab Jasmine Elsaadany, Smita Ramgolam, and Christina Rajmangal. They shared their stories of resilience, discussed strategies to overcome gender bias, and encouraged audience members to take ownership of their own career paths. Attendees expressed that they left feeling ready to tackle workplace barriers and contribute to a more inclusive industry.

A huge thanks goes to our founders, Tom (COO) and Raj (CEO), whose visionary leadership makes growth and empowerment for women at Pace possible. Their commitment to organic growth, seeing women as allies, leaders and key contributors to our industry, is a testament to the strength of inclusive leadership. Tom and Raj’s dedication to cultivating female talent and ensuring equal opportunities not only strengthens Pace but sets an inspiring example across the tech sector.

A special shoutout to Lily Spokes, who organised our entire presence at the expo and ensured that every detail reflected our mission and values. This is second time we have done this event and the team “pushed the baseline” as it was even better than before.

As always, the entire team represented our brand beautifully, showcasing the values that make Pace Integration a standout place for women in tech. It was also an honour to hear from inspiring speakers, including Katie Piper, whose personal journey of resilience moved us all. From her own life experiences to her charity work supporting survivors, Katie reminded us of the importance of courage and perseverance.

Next, we joined forces with MuleSoft for the EMEA Women Edition 2024, a two-day gathering aimed at uplifting women in technology while exploring the latest trends in API management, AI, and automation. Held at the Blue Fin Building in London, this event went beyond the technical, offering a supportive space for women in tech to discuss industry challenges and gain insights for career advancement.

The event featured empowering discussions, including a panel with our CEO Raj , Emely Patra, Jennifer McLaughlin, and Sabine Meyer.

The panel discussion aimed to showcase diverse perspectives on the challenges and opportunities in the tech industry while offering valuable insights from accomplished women in the field. The speakers shared advice on a range of topics, from embracing discomfort and stepping out of your comfort zone to cultivating curiosity and confidence. Emely Patra’s guidance stood out as a powerful call to action for anyone striving to advance their career.

“Don’t overthink—your decisions aren’t set in stone, and as long as you’re learning, you’re on the right path”

Beyond the panels, attendees took part in sessions on overcoming imposter syndrome and establishing a strong personal brand. Emely’s keynote on how to retain “human” skills in an AI-driven world was both timely and insightful, and Catherine Macdonald’s expert coordination of the event made the experience memorable.

From building connections over an evening glass of wine to engaging in technical discussions, the energy was vibrant, and everyone came away with fresh inspiration. Huge thanks to the MuleSoft team and all involved in making this event such a success!

Rounding out October, we hosted our ITs Not Just for the Boys recruitment event—a unique opportunity to connect with talented women passionate about careers in technology. Organised by Shamima Akter, and held in partnership with TargetJobs, this event was aimed at introducing students to the world of tech, with a focus on career possibilities in digital transformation and integration.

The atmosphere was buzzing with excitement and curiosity as students learned about our Fast Track Graduate (FTG) program and the various roles available in tech. Alongside companies like American Express, BAE Systems, and KPMG, we offered these women insights into tech careers, and had a chance to understand what young talent looks for in employers. It was refreshing to hear their perspectives, and their enthusiasm left a lasting impact on our team.

Our Empower Panel, featuring Eileen Bwire, emphasised the importance of mentorship and community for women aiming to thrive in STEM. We discussed statistics that underline why events like these matter, including that nearly 50% of women under 35 leave STEM fields.

This was a moment for reflection as well as inspiration, reminding us that building a supportive and inclusive workplace is crucial not just for hiring but for retaining talent.

As October wraps up, we look back on a month of tremendous growth, collaboration, and impact. From uplifting discussions and skill-building workshops to meaningful connections with women in STEM, this month reaffirmed our commitment to creating an environment where everyone has the chance to thrive.

To all who participated, supported, and shared their knowledge—thank you. Together, we’re building a brighter, more inclusive future for women in tech. Here’s to many more moments of learning, growth, and success ahead.

We are always excited to grow our amazing team! If Pace’s core values resonate with you, send your CV and cover letter to [email protected]—we would love to hear from you.
